Stories and Perspectives from the Farm
New Pigs Video, What's Up with the Farm Bill and a Tasty Surprise!
Farm Updates
Last batch of weaned pigs delivered
Unbelievable unseasonably warm weather. I think we had maybe 2-3 weeks of safe ice (if there is such a thing) for ice fishing this winter. Unheard of in Minnesota—or at least it’s been along time!
Income tax appointment this week along with appointment with lawyer to talk about estate planning. Ugh.
Again, and I feel like I am repeating myself, but lots of projects that we normally would not be doing in February.

New Pigs on the Farm
Wonder what happens when new pigs arrive on the farm?
Farm Bill
Just frustrating. We need a farm bill but congress can’t get their act together. And, now, taking a 2 week vacation. It’s a good thing that farmers don’t do that. We all would be hungry.
Hmmm. Maybe that’s what we should do?
Fake Meat?
Talk about a good reminder for all of us! You can’t beat the real thing.
In the News
2 Policemen and EMS killed
I can’t wrap my ahead around this. Recently, there was a shooting in Burnsville, (about 2 hours away) a suburb of Minneapolis. The police officers were responding to a domestic disturbance. But what transpired was tragic. The suspect shot 3 officers and 1 EMS. Only one of the officers survived.
What is becoming of our society? I can’t help but think about how easy we are on criminals in this state. I just shake my head. But if you commit a crime, you need consequences. Too many times we hear in the news after a crime is committed that the perpetrators are let go.
Do you know what this does? There is no deterrence to not commit the crime next time. Sorry to say, but have you raised kids? If you let your kids get away with things they should be not be doing, they will continue to do them. Adults are the same.
That’s all.
The Minnesota Traveler
I love stories. And especially about the history of Minnesota.
And I really loved the stories our tour guide shared with us at the Soudan Mines in northern Minnesota.
And For Fun
I am giving you a link to a favorite recipe. Nothing screams Minnesota (especially northern Minnesota) than Chicken Wild Rice Soup. Enjoy!
See you all next week!
I completely agree with you Adam. This state is hardly recognizable. Thanks again!
Minnesota is like a Mini-California where you can loot and shoplift without punishment but can’t purchase something like a nicotine-flavored vape. It’s so ridiculous it’s hard to believe this is real life.
Also, cool pig video. As a grain farmer, I don’t know the first thing about hogs so I found it very interesting.
Have a great week!
