I feel your pain, in Iowa we are fighting the CO2 pipelines that want to use eminent domain for these private companies, and Iowa has republican control in all three branches at the Capital. I've lost a lot of faith in our government. Follow the money !!

In Minnesota, we have a socialist Governor and legislature that continues to tax and spend in spite of a $17B overtax. Our legislature wants Minnesota to be like California, forcing us to go solar and wind, but won't consider nuclear power. Taking good land out of production for solar and wind is insane, reduces the crops used for livestock production which is necessary for good nutrition. Our voters keep electing urban Democrats that are only interested in their own pet spending projects and apparently do not care what happens in out-state Minnesota. Our educational system results are dismal at best even though we keep throwing more money to education.

Hold off on any solar. The world will be going to Tesla Free Energy over the next few years. All of Tesla's patents are being released [and other patents too - over 6,000]. This technology is pollution free. No more "green" nonsense. You will have a small box, like a small suitcase, to power your home. There will be applications for larger facilities also over time. Energy for vehicles will change also, but will take some time. Farmers who produce high quality food will win big time. Sorry, GMO's will go away.

You are fortunate in MN to have a progressive government. I do take exception to your phrasing that a solar field is taking land out of production. It is simply a different production. Here in Iowa, a lot of corn is grown and over half go to ethanol production. Solar is a better product.
